About us
Household money in Britain, set out plainly
Ichslta explains the rules behind everyday money in the UK: Income Tax, savings, household bills and family finances, with the official source for every figure.
What we cover
Our readers are ordinary adults, many in their forties to seventies, who want to understand a letter from HMRC, a Council Tax bill or the rules on gifts to their children without wading through jargon. We write in four sections:
- Income tax: Tax bands, tax codes, HMRC letters and the small allowances that decide whether you need a tax return, explained with the official figures for 2026/27.
- Savings & investments: Premium Bonds, savings accounts, deposit protection and Capital Gains Tax: how the rules treat the money you put aside, and what is guaranteed and what is not.
- Household bills: Council Tax, energy, broadband and water: the discounts and cheaper tariffs that exist for the bills every home pays, and who is entitled to them.
- Family money: Caring for someone, giving to children and grandchildren, and what happens to a home and savings when someone dies.
How the articles are written
Articles are written and checked by the Ichslta Editorial team. Every figure is taken from an official source, such as GOV.UK, HM Revenue & Customs, the Department for Work and Pensions, NS&I, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, Ofcom, Ofgem or the Consumer Council for Water, and the sources are listed at the end of each article. Examples and tables built from invented figures are labelled as illustrations. We date every article and state the tax year that figures refer to.
We explain the rules; we do not give personal advice, recommend products or providers, or process applications. Where a decision depends on your own circumstances, we point you to the official service or to a qualified adviser.
Who publishes the site, and how it is funded
Ichslta is published by OST Consulting OÜ, a private limited company registered in Estonia. The site is funded by its publisher and promoted through paid advertising; for that reason every page carries the label “Advertisement · Sponsored content by OST Consulting OÜ”. Ichslta is not connected with HMRC, DWP, GOV.UK, any council or any other public body. Full company details are on the imprint.
Corrections
Rules and rates change, and we update articles when they do. If you think something is wrong or out of date, please write to editorial@ichslta.com with the article and the source you are relying on. We do not answer questions about individual tax or benefit cases; HMRC, DWP and your council can do that free of charge.
The Friday Sheet
Each Friday we send a single page by email on what has changed for household money that week. It is free and you can sign up here.
